The firm was co-founded by Yi Pin Ng, a former partner at GGV Capital, and Michael Mao, who was previously a partner at IDG Capital. Both founders contribute over two decades of investment experience in the venture capital industry. With a team of over 30 professionals, Yunqi Partners operates from offices in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen.

The firm focuses exclusively on early-stage investments in China's burgeoning enterprise market, covering sectors such as AI, Big Data, DeepTech, Robotics, SaaS, and Supply Chain Technology. Its business model is centered on identifying and providing seed capital to promising startups, acting as a Day 1 partner and often a lead investor. The firm generates returns for its limited partners, which include endowments, foundations, and family offices, through the successful growth and exit of its portfolio companies.
