About Yunmai

Founded in 2014 by Wang Yang, Yunmai Technology is a science and technology-based internet enterprise focused on the smart health and fitness sector. Wang's journey into the health industry was influenced by his personal experience with scientific weight management and his early success in internet entrepreneurship, including creating a 200,000-member online community at age 16 and later founding a software company acquired by Kingsoft. Seeing a gap in the market for affordable and data-driven health devices for Chinese consumers, he launched Yunmai from his hometown of Zhuhai with former colleagues from Cheetah Mobile.

Yunmai operates on a direct-to-consumer (B2C) business model, developing and selling smart health hardware. The company’s revenue is generated through the sale of its physical products. Its core market consists of individuals focused on health, fitness, and quality of life. Initially targeting the Chinese market, Yunmai expanded internationally in 2016, reaching markets in the US, Europe, and other regions, with its smart scale becoming a bestseller on Amazon in the US by 2017.

The company's product ecosystem is built around the principle of “hardware + software + content + service.” Its flagship products include smart body fat scales that measure up to ten key body composition metrics, such as body fat, muscle mass, and bone mass. These scales sync with the "Haoqing" or Yunmai mobile app, which provides users with health data analysis and management. Beyond scales, Yunmai has diversified its product line to include massage guns, smart jump ropes, and neck massagers. In 2020, Yunmai joined the Xiaomi ecosystem after receiving a significant investment from the tech giant, leading to collaborations like the Mijia mini massage gun. The company has secured multiple funding rounds from investors including LB Investment, Ming势 Capital, and Sina Weibo Fund.
