The company's journey began with a significant milestone in 2008 when it secured its initial capital through Shanda's "18 Fund" and launched its first commercial game, "Hero's Gate" (英雄之门). This was followed by a Series A investment in 2009 from Steamboat Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners. A pivotal moment came in 2010 with a strategic investment from Tencent, which became the exclusive agent for Youxigu's blockbuster web game "Seven Heroes Hegemony" (七雄争霸). This title achieved remarkable success, reportedly breaking world records for web games at the time with 800,000 concurrent users and monthly revenues exceeding 100 million RMB. In 2012, Youxigu was acquired by the publicly listed Chengdu B-ray Media Company.

Youxigu operates on a model that integrates game research, development, and operations. Its revenue is generated through the development and sale of free-to-play games with in-app purchases and by licensing its games to larger publishers, most notably Tencent. The business initially focused on browser-based games, primarily in the strategy (SLG) and MMORPG genres. In 2014, the company strategically pivoted to include mobile games, adapting its successful intellectual properties for the new format and launching on platforms like WeChat and QQ. The portfolio includes popular titles such as the "Seven Heroes Hegemony" series, which has grossed nearly 5 billion RMB, and the "All People's Lord" (全民主公) series. Beyond gaming, the company ventured into the film industry in 2017, investing in several movie productions.
