Young Pecan, a company with a century-long history, was established in the 1920s in Florence, South Carolina, by T.B. Young, Sr. as a shipper of in-shell pecans. The family business transitioned to his son, J. Givens Young, in 1945, who introduced commercial crackers, marking the company's expansion into the pecan shelling industry. A significant milestone occurred in 1992 when Young Pecan formed a joint venture with Gold Kist, Inc., which merged their pecan operations and positioned them as a major sheller in the industry. The company was later acquired by King Ranch, Inc. in October 2006 and subsequently by National Pecan in November 2015.

The company's primary business is to function as an ingredient supplier to large food manufacturers in the United States and internationally. Its client roster includes major food processing companies, wholesalers, club stores, and grocery retailers who use the pecans as ingredients in products like cookies, ice cream, cereals, and pastries. Young Pecan operates state-of-the-art shelling facilities in Las Cruces, New Mexico; Florence, South Carolina; and Zaragosa, Mexico, with a buying and storage facility in Albany, Georgia. This strategic placement provides access to raw materials from key growing regions in the U.S. and Mexico.

In addition to its business-to-business operations, the company also serves consumers directly through its retail brand, Young's Premium Foods, and its online presence. This division offers a wide range of gourmet pecan products, including various flavored pecans, gift tins, baskets, and baked goods like pies and cinnamon rolls. They operate retail locations in Florence and North Myrtle Beach and ship their products nationwide, focusing on high-quality, fancy mammoth pecans. The company offers services such as pecan oil roasting, antioxidant coating, custom cutting and sizing, and pouching to meet the specific needs of their diverse clientele.
