Xeryon

Xeryon, a Belgian manufacturer of precision motion components, was established in 2013 as a spin-off from the prestigious Micro & Precision Engineering research group at KU Leuven. The company was founded by researchers Bruno Kersschot and Steven Cappa, who serves as the CEO. Headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, Xeryon specializes in designing and producing motion products driven by its patented ultrasonic piezo technology.

The firm's core business revolves around manufacturing and selling compact, high-speed piezo stages, actuators, and motors. This technology is engineered to offer the miniature size and precision typical of piezo devices, combined with the speed, travel range, and durability of electromagnetic motors. Xeryon's proprietary "Crossfixx" ultrasonic motor, for which it holds a patent, is designed to be exceptionally fast and durable. This technology enables the creation of tiny, gearless motors that can generate minuscule steps of one nanometer by vibrating a ceramic block up to 200,000 times per second, resulting in a fluid, fast, and precise motion with a long operational lifetime. All engineering, manufacturing, and quality control are conducted in-house by a specialized team.

Xeryon serves a global client base across industrial and scientific sectors, including industries such as microscopy, semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, robotics, quantum computing, and aerospace. The product portfolio includes a wide array of linear and rotary stages, micro-actuators, optical shutters, and multi-axis systems, which are used for applications like sample positioning, cell injection, and 3D scanning. The business generates revenue through the sale of these standard and custom positioning systems to entities creating OEM equipment and research test setups. Following its commercialization start in 2019, the company experienced significant growth. In October 2023, Xeryon secured $3.39 million in a later-stage venture capital round from investors including Société Fédérale de Participations et d'Investissement and Torus Capital to expand its production capacity.
