In a strategic shift to concentrate on its fitness service, Within announced the shutdown of its original cinematic VR app in February 2023, migrating some content to YouTube VR as a historical archive. This decision reflected the significant user engagement and positive feedback received for Supernatural's ability to make exercise enjoyable.

A major milestone in the company's history was its acquisition by Meta Platforms, Inc. The deal, first announced in October 2021, was finalized in February 2023 after overcoming a lawsuit from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. The acquisition positioned Within to operate independently under Meta's Reality Labs, with the goal of expanding the future of VR fitness.
