About Wireless Seismic

Wireless Seismic, Inc. provides advanced seismic data acquisition systems to the oil and gas industry, targeting seismic contractors and service companies. Founded in 2006 by Doug Crice, the company was established to develop and market the first wireless seismic data acquisition system capable of collecting and transmitting data in real-time. This endeavor was driven by the founders' recognition of a market need to overcome the limitations of both traditional, cumbersome cabled systems and "blind" nodal systems that lacked real-time data visibility.

The company's business centers on the design, manufacturing, and sale of its proprietary wireless seismic recording systems. The firm has attracted significant investment from major industry players, including Total, EV Private Equity, and Chesapeake Energy, having raised approximately $78 million across 10 funding rounds. This financial backing enabled the company to scale its manufacturing operations and continually advance its technology. Its client base includes seismic contractors across the globe, with sales in markets like China, Indonesia, Japan, and the Americas.

Wireless Seismic's flagship product is the RT System 2 (RT2), a cable-free seismic recording system that offers real-time data return. This system addresses a critical challenge in onshore seismic operations by combining the operational flexibility and reduced cost of cable-less setups with the data security and immediate quality control of cabled systems. The technology consists of Wireless Remote Units (WRUs) that, once deployed, self-test, determine their position via internal GPS, and transmit digitized geophone signals through a mesh network to a central recording station. This "bucket brigade" data transmission allows for immediate verification of data quality, eliminating the risk of costly re-shoots that can occur with autonomous nodal systems where data is stored locally and collected later. The RT2 system is highly scalable, capable of supporting tens of thousands of channels for large 2D and 3D surveys, as well as for monitoring hydraulic fracturing operations.

The management team comprises seasoned professionals from the seismic, software, and telecommunications industries. Roy Kligfield, a serial entrepreneur with a background in geology and geophysics, served as CEO from 2006. Gary Jones, former President of WesternGeco, joined the board in 2010 and serves as Chairman, bringing extensive experience from major geophysical contractors. Mick Lambert, with a long history leading advanced subsurface imaging companies like GX Technology, joined in 2010 and has served as President and CEO. This blend of scientific expertise and industry leadership has been pivotal in steering the company's product development and market penetration.
