The firm was founded by Kenny Tan, who serves as the company's Chairman. Westwell specializes in providing full-stack, integrated solutions that combine artificial intelligence with new energy sources, targeting the global logistics industry. The company's business model revolves around developing and deploying AI-driven and autonomous-driving solutions for various logistics scenarios, including seaports, airports, railway hubs, and manufacturing plants.

The company has raised capital from a variety of investors such as InnoStar Venture (a vehicle of Fosun Group), Empower Investment, and Chao Capital. In February 2024, the company announced the establishment of its international headquarters and an overseas R&D center in Hong Kong, with a planned investment of HK$300 million over the next five years to attract global talent. This move is part of Westwell's broader globalization strategy to better serve international users and expand its global footprint.
