About West Harbor

West Harbor is a significant real estate development transforming 42 acres of the LA Waterfront in San Pedro into a premier dining, retail, and entertainment district. The project is a joint venture between two family-owned Southern California firms: Jerico Development, Inc. and The Ratkovich Company, in partnership with the Port of Los Angeles. Construction commenced in late 2022 on the former site of the Ports O' Call Village, with a phased opening anticipated to begin in late 2025. The business model is centered on a 66-year ground lease with the port to build and operate the destination, generating revenue from commercial leases to a curated mix of tenants.

The development is spearheaded by brothers Eric and Alan Johnson of Jerico Development, who serve as West Harbor's senior project executive and director of communication, respectively. Their family has deep roots in the Los Angeles industrial sector, starting in 1921 with a trucking and crane company before evolving into real estate development under the Jerico name in 1984. Having grown up in the adjacent Palos Verdes area and witnessed the original Ports O' Call in its prime, the Johnsons bring a personal connection and local perspective to revitalizing the waterfront for the community. The Ratkovich Company, their partner, is a seasoned developer known for transforming landmark properties across Los Angeles for over four decades.

Upon completion, West Harbor will feature over 200,000 square feet of attractions, including a mile-long waterfront promenade and extensive public dock space. The destination aims to attract both locals and tourists through a diverse array of offerings. The tenant mix includes notable restaurants like the first satellite location for Hollywood's Yamashiro, Mike Hess Brewing, King and Queen Cantina, and the iconic San Pedro Fish Market, which will occupy a new, large-scale facility. Entertainment and recreational venues are a core component, featuring a 6,200-seat open-air amphitheater managed by Nederlander Concerts, an immersive art gallery named Hopscotch, and a waterfront amusement park with a large observation wheel. Further amenities include an off-leash dog park and social club (Bark Social), padel and pickleball courts, and various retail shops, with a focus on creating unique experiences against the backdrop of an active port.
