WebVision is an online, non-commercial academic project originating from the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, functioning as a comprehensive electronic tutorial and textbook on the organization of the retina and the visual system. The project commenced in 1995, conceived as a means to summarize and disseminate the rapid advancements in understanding retinal neurocircuitry, which were accelerated by technologies like electron microscopy and microelectrode recording.
