Voltico provides a turnkey software solution for businesses to monetize emission rights from their electric vehicle (EV) charging activities. Founded by entrepreneurial brothers Maarten and Edward Poot, the company leverages their expertise in e-mobility, software development, and payments from their previous ventures, Felyx and Cino. Maarten Poot was a co-founder of Felyx, an Amsterdam-based e-moped sharing service started in 2016, which aimed to make cities more livable with sustainable transport. The other founder of Voltico has a background at Felyx as CTO and as founder of fintech Cino, a shared payment application.

Voltico's business model is centered on its smart platform that automates the entire process of claiming and trading these emission credits, specifically targeting the Dutch market for Renewable Energy Units (HBEs), which as of January 2026 are known as Emission Reduction Units (Emissiereductie-eenheden, EREs). The company connects its software directly to EV charging points, solar panels, batteries, and energy management systems to collect and validate charging data in real-time. This data is then used to generate ERE credits, which Voltico bundles and sells to traders and fuel suppliers who are legally required to meet annual renewable energy quotas. This creates a new, recurring revenue stream for Voltico's clients, which include logistics companies, fleet operators, real estate owners, OEMs and charge point operators (CPOs).

The company's service eliminates the complex administrative burden that previously limited participation in the emission credits market to major players. Voltico handles the registration with the Dutch Emission Authority (NEa), the continuous booking of credits, trading through a reputable broker for stable pricing, and the final payout to the client. The platform ensures all data is audit-ready and provides clients with a transparent portal to track their earnings. By making it financially attractive and simple for more organizations to participate, Voltico aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility.
