Vital Bio is developing the "VitalOne," a desktop-sized, automated platform designed to bring comprehensive lab testing to point-of-care settings like primary care clinics, pharmacies, and in-home care locations. The device uses 600 microliters of blood to perform over 50 lab-grade tests, covering approximately 95% of routine lab orders. By leveraging advancements in microfluidics, robotics, computer vision, and biochemistry, the VitalOne runs hematology, clinical chemistry, and immunoassay tests in parallel, delivering results in about 20 minutes. This allows medical professionals to test, diagnose, and treat patients within a single visit. The system is designed for ease of use, with less than 30 seconds of hands-on time, and includes features like a patient app for result tracking.

The company's business model aims to disrupt the diagnostics industry by making testing more accessible and reducing delays in patient care. Vital Bio is privately held and has secured significant funding to support its growth and product development. As of July 2023, the company had raised a total of $48 million from investors including Lachy Groom, Northpond Ventures, Labcorp, Inovia Capital, and notable individuals like Sam Altman and Marc Benioff. A Series B funding round in September 2024 brought the total raised to over $62 million.
