The company's service offerings were centered on the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels, providing customers with a wide range of panel brands to choose from. This approach allowed for system customization based on a homeowner's specific needs regarding cost or efficiency.
However, the company's rapid growth was accompanied by significant operational and legal challenges. Vision Solar faced numerous lawsuits and regulatory actions from multiple state attorneys general and the Federal Trade Commission. Allegations included the use of high-pressure and deceptive sales tactics, misrepresenting potential savings, performing work without proper permits, and installing systems that were never activated, leaving customers with non-operational panels and loans to repay. These legal battles and financial pressures ultimately led the company to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December 2023, ceasing all operations and liquidating its assets.
