Vision Solar LLC, founded in 2018 by Jonathan Seibert and Michael Eden, was a residential solar energy provider headquartered in Blackwood, New Jersey. Seibert, a master electrician with a decade of experience in solar installation, partnered with Eden, who brought a background in call center operations, to establish the company. The business focused on providing turnkey solar solutions for homeowners, managing the entire process from consultation and system design to permitting, installation, and activation. Operating a direct-to-consumer model, the company’s revenue was generated from the sale and installation of solar panel systems, often financed through loans. Its target market was residential homeowners across several states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Texas, and Florida.

At its peak, Vision Solar was recognized as one of the largest residential solar installers in the United States by volume, completing over 15,000 installations and reporting revenues over $150 million. The company's service offerings were centered on the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels, providing customers with a wide range of panel brands to choose from. This approach allowed for system customization based on a homeowner's specific needs regarding cost or efficiency.

However, the company's rapid growth was accompanied by significant operational and legal challenges. Vision Solar faced numerous lawsuits and regulatory actions from multiple state attorneys general and the Federal Trade Commission. Allegations included the use of high-pressure and deceptive sales tactics, misrepresenting potential savings, performing work without proper permits, and installing systems that were never activated, leaving customers with non-operational panels and loans to repay. These legal battles and financial pressures ultimately led the company to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December 2023, ceasing all operations and liquidating its assets. The company listed liabilities around $119 million against assets of $8 million. Following the bankruptcy, a Connecticut court imposed a $5 million judgment against the company for its business practices.
