Uviquity is a deep-tech startup focused on developing next-generation photonic disinfection technologies. Founded in 2022 by a team of scientists, engineers, and photonics experts, the company emerged from stealth in May 2025 with $6.6 million in seed funding. The CEO and co-founder is Scott Burroughs.

The company is pioneering solid-state far-UVC (200-230 nm) semiconductor light sources. This technology is designed to provide safe, continuous, and chemical-free disinfection for a variety of applications, including air, food, and water. The core of its product is a proprietary photonic integrated circuit that enables a scalable, single-chip far-UVC solution. This chip-scale light source can be integrated into numerous applications using standard photonic packages. Unlike conventional UV-C light, far-UVC has been shown to be safe for continuous human exposure while effectively inactivating pathogens like viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Uviquity operates in the disinfection technology market, targeting industries that require high levels of pathogen control. Its business model revolves around the research, development, and eventual commercialization of its semiconductor technology. The initial seed funding, led by Emerald Development Managers with participation from AgFunder and MANN+HUMMEL, is being used to accelerate research and productization efforts. Potential applications for its technology include air disinfection in public and private spaces, pesticide-free crop protection in agriculture, and chemical-free water purification.
