About VINATEX
The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) is a significant state-owned enterprise in the Vietnamese textile industry, headquartered in Hanoi. Established in April 1995, the group was formed by the merger of enterprises under the Vietnam Textile Corporation and the Garment Production-Import Export Union. A major milestone in its history was the approval of its equitization plan by the Prime Minister of Vietnam on May 6, 2014, followed by a successful initial public offering (IPO) on September 22, 2014. The company officially transitioned to a joint-stock company in January 2015 after its first General Meeting of Shareholders.
Vinatex operates as a vertically integrated conglomerate, with business activities spanning the entire textile supply chain. Its operations are organized into several sectors including yarn, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, and garment manufacturing. The company produces a wide range of products such as TC, TR, CVC blended yarn, cotton yarn, and various types of fabrics. The business model is centered on being a "one-stop for sustainable textile & green fashion," providing full-service capabilities to its clients. Revenue is generated through the manufacturing and sale of these textile products, with a substantial portion coming from exports to over 65 countries. Vinatex also engages in import-export operations, manages fashion design institutes, vocational schools, and has investments in real estate.
The group functions as a complex corporate structure, comprising the parent company and over 100 subsidiary and joint-venture companies. This extensive network includes numerous garment factories, research centers, and training facilities located throughout Vietnam. To address rising labor and land costs in major industrial hubs, Vinatex has been strategically relocating production facilities to provinces with larger labor pools since the mid-2000s. The company serves both local and international customers, acting as a cut and sew apparel contractor and a wholesale provider of diverse textile products. In a move to enhance its market position, Vinatex launched the Vinatex Product Development and Business Centre (Vinatex PD&B) in July 2024 to offer comprehensive green fashion solutions and handle design and product development, phases traditionally managed by buyers.
