VideoIQ Inc. was a technology company specializing in intelligent video surveillance solutions. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, the company developed and manufactured intelligent surveillance cameras and encoders that featured built-in video recording and advanced analytics. Its core products, the iCVR (intelligent Camera with Video Recording) family, integrated automated event detection, an onboard DVR, and video management software into a single device. This allowed for features like live detection, event verification, and instant notification, all driven by self-learning analytics.

The company's technology was designed to proactively identify threats by distinguishing between people, vehicles, and boats versus irrelevant motion from animals or objects, thereby increasing detection accuracy. A key feature was its network efficiency; by storing video directly on the camera, the system could record at high resolution with minimal bandwidth usage. This design simplified installation and reduced the need for centralized NVRs or DVRs. VideoIQ raised approximately $37.5 million in funding over several rounds from investors including Atlas Venture, Matrix Partners, and Tenaya Capital.

In December 2013, Avigilon Corporation, a provider of high-definition surveillance solutions, announced its acquisition of VideoIQ for $32 million in cash, a deal that was completed in January 2014. The acquisition provided Avigilon with VideoIQ's commercially proven analytics technology, its development team, and a portfolio of 23 granted or pending patents. At the time of the acquisition, VideoIQ had approximately 30 employees.
