The story of Viadux is a long and foundational one in Australia's water industry, with roots tracing back to 1885. It began when a man named Mephan Ferguson was contracted by the Victorian government to replace old wrought iron pipelines with the more durable cast iron. This initial endeavor laid the groundwork for a company that would become integral to managing Australia's most vital resource. The modern Viadux brand as it's known today was officially established in 2015. It carved out a niche as a leading distributor of large-scale water pipeline systems, supplying critical components to water utilities, councils, and civil contractors. The business focused on the distribution of pipes, valves, fittings, and clamps essential for building and maintaining significant water infrastructure. A pivotal chapter in the company's journey came in October 2017. Viadux, then owned by Australian private equity fund Crescent Capital Partners, was acquired by the Reece Group, a major player in the plumbing and bathroom supplies market. The acquisition was a strategic move for Reece, allowing it to expand its footprint into the civil water market, a segment complementary to its existing business. Viadux continues to operate under its own brand, now backed by the extensive network and resources of the Reece Group.
