Vertiv
Critical infrastructure technologies and rapidly-deployable customized solutions to meet specific business requirements and needs
About Vertiv
Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE: VRT) is a global provider of critical digital infrastructure technologies and services, headquartered in Westerville, Ohio. The company designs, manufactures, and services the power, thermal management, and IT infrastructure systems that keep data centers, communication networks, and commercial and industrial facilities running without interruption. Its portfolio spans uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), switchgear and busbar systems, power distribution, precision cooling and thermal management (including liquid cooling for high-density and AI workloads), integrated racks and enclosures, modular and prefabricated data center solutions, and monitoring and management software. Complementing its hardware, Vertiv operates one of the industry's largest global service and engineering networks, offering installation, maintenance, lifecycle support, and consulting. As digitalization, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence drive surging demand for compute capacity and energy efficiency, Vertiv positions itself as an enabler of the data economy, helping operators scale capacity while improving resilience, density, and sustainability. The company generated approximately USD 8 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2024, employs more than 10,000 people, and is a constituent of the S&P 500. Despite the contemporary "Vertiv" brand having been established only in 2016, the business is firmly a mature, corporate enterprise rather than a startup. Its origins trace back to 1965, when Ralph Liebert founded the Liebert Corporation in Columbus, Ohio, pioneering precision air-conditioning systems purpose-built to protect early mainframe computer rooms. Liebert effectively created the computer-room environmental control category. In 1988, the company was acquired by Emerson Electric Co., one of the largest industrial conglomerates in the United States, and over the following decades it was consolidated, expanded, and combined with other businesses into Emerson Network Power, a division formalized around 2000 to bring together Emerson's critical infrastructure technologies through both organic development and acquisitions. In 2016, Emerson Electric divested the Emerson Network Power business to the private equity firm Platinum Equity in a transaction valued at roughly USD 4 billion, and the business was renamed Vertiv. In February 2020, Vertiv became a publicly traded company through a merger with GS Acquisition Holdings Corp, a special-purpose acquisition company sponsored by Goldman Sachs, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker VRT. This lineage — a business founded in 1965, grown to scale within a multinational industrial parent, and matured through decades of expansion and acquisition before reaching the public markets — is the defining reason Vertiv is classified as a mature, corporate company rather than a venture-stage startup.
