Valtix

The firm's core offering was a platform designed to simplify network security for enterprises operating across multiple public clouds, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The business model operated on a pay-as-you-go basis, providing clients with flexibility and scalability. Valtix catered to a range of industries with stringent regulatory and compliance needs, including financial services, healthcare, retail, and government sectors. In February 2023, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Valtix, a deal that was completed by the end of March 2023. The acquisition integrated the Valtix team and its technology into Cisco's Security Business Group to enhance its Security Cloud portfolio.

The Valtix platform was architected with a decoupled control and data plane. The Valtix Controller, a SaaS-based management plane, enabled centralized policy creation and visibility across multiple clouds. The Valtix Gateway, a fleet of auto-scaling software instances deployed within the customer's cloud accounts, provided inline security services. This architecture allowed for continuous discovery of cloud applications, automatically applying security policies as environments changed. Key features included a Web Application Firewall (WAF), Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS/IPS), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and URL filtering. The platform's single-pass pipeline was engineered for high throughput and low latency, addressing a critical need for performance in cloud security that traditional solutions struggled to meet.
