About Triple Point Technology

Triple Point Technology (TPT), founded in 1993 by Peter F. Armstrong and his long-time friend and colleague, Allie Rogers, established itself as a key provider of commodity management software. Armstrong, who served as CEO, has a Master of Science in computer science from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. The firm's mission was to deliver sophisticated software for the complex and competitive global commodity markets. A significant milestone in the company's history was its acquisition by ION Group in July 2013 for approximately $900 million. At the time of the acquisition, TPT employed over 850 people in 15 offices globally.

TPT develops and provides commodity management software for a diverse range of industries, including energy, metals, chemicals, agriculture, retail, and manufacturing. The company's clients utilize the software to manage the entire lifecycle of commodity trading, from trade capture and scheduling to risk management and settlement. The business model centered on providing these advanced analytical solutions through both cloud-based and on-premise software installations. This enabled clients to navigate volatile markets by managing exposure to energy and raw material price fluctuations.

The company's flagship product suite, Commodity XL (CXL), is a comprehensive platform that offers real-time analytics to optimize the end-to-end commodity and energy value chains. Its features cover trading, procurement, enterprise risk management, logistics, storage, processing, and accounting. For instance, the CXL Pit to Port solution allows for the planning, tracking, and optimizing of bulk material movements from the mine to the point of export. Another component, Metallurgical Accountant™, provides a complete metal accounting solution. The software suite was designed to give businesses end-to-end visibility and control over their operations, helping them make informed decisions and mitigate risks.
