About Trince

Trince has developed LumiPore®, a photoporation platform for intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, proteins and other biomolecules. The technology uses proprietary photothermal LumiSense® nanoparticles that convert nanosecond laser pulses into localised heat and mechanical effects at the cell membrane. This temporarily perturbs the cell membrane’s integrity, allowing gentle intracellular delivery of otherwise cell-impermeable payload molecules supplied to the extracellular medium. Thanks to a patented, optimised optical design, the LumiPore platform reaches rates of up to 10⁶ cells per second across a broad range of cell types and payloads. Its flexibility across payloads and cell types, combined with its gentleness on cells, positions Trince's technology as a next-generation intracellular delivery platform, offering a unique scalable alternative to harsher delivery technologies such as electroporation. These characteristics are particularly relevant for preclinical drug discovery and development, which is currently Trince's primary market focus. Gentleness allows delivery into the sensitive, hard-to-transfect primary and stem cell types that give the most disease-relevant readouts, rather than settling for easier but less representative models. In addition, gentleness translates into fast recovery kinetics and an unperturbed cellular state, ensuring robust and reliable downstream assays that can proceed without delay. Flexibility across payloads and cell types matters because discovery programmes span many different experiments, from gene editing to protein and antibody delivery in a broad variety of cell types. Scalability matters because screening campaigns are run in highly parallel, miniaturized plate formats, such as 384- or 1536-well plates, which the LumiPore platform supports directly. Importantly, the platform can be readily integrated in automated workflows in drug discovery and development.
