In 1995, brothers Surya Prakash Madrecha and Chandra Prakash Madrecha started Trimax IT Infrastructure & Services with a small team in Mumbai. Their goal was to provide IT services and solutions, growing from a small system integrator into a significant player in India's IT sector. The company specialized in services like data centers, network management, and cloud computing. They secured major projects with government bodies and large enterprises in sectors like transportation and telecom. The company attracted investment from private equity firms, including Aditya Birla Private Equity, and attempted to go public, filing for an IPO in both 2011 and 2013, though these did not proceed. A significant turning point occurred in February 2019 when the company entered the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) after facing financial difficulties. In October 2021, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked the company and its directors for allegedly cheating a consortium of banks. The company's journey took another definitive turn in May 2020. Through the insolvency process, the U.S.-based software company Ebix Inc., through its Indian subsidiary, acquired Trimax. The National Company Law Tribunal approved Ebix's resolution plan, marking the end of one chapter for Trimax and the beginning of another under new ownership.
