Trebia Networks

Trebia Networks developed a new category of processor known as the Storage Network Processor (SNP). This specialized system-on-a-chip was designed to enhance the performance of high-demand storage networking solutions. The company's business model was centered on selling these chips to other storage vendors for use as components in their products. Its product line included several versions of their chip, such as the SNP-1000, which functioned as a TCP/IP-Fibre Channel gateway, and the SNP-1000i, a TCP/IP offload engine (TOE). Another product, the SNP-500, was an iSCSI/TOE processor. Before the physical chips were available, Trebia offered a Software Development Kit (SNP-SDK) that allowed developers to model the functionality of a system. By late 2002, Trebia had secured over $40 million in startup funding from venture partners. In October 2002, the company entered into a licensing agreement with Gadzoox Networks for its Fibre Channel software technology to integrate into Trebia's SNP products.
