Transfyr (Transfyr Bio, Inc.) is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company building a physical-AI observability layer for laboratory science. It combines sensor stacks with multimodal AI models to capture bench execution, operator intent, environmental variables and instrument telemetry as machine-readable data, so the tacit knowledge in wet-lab work can be recorded, reproduced and used to train AI. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Anna Marie Wagner, formerly Head of AI and Corporate Development at Ginkgo Bioworks, and co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Renee Wegrzyn, founding Director of ARPA-H. Transfyr emerged from stealth on 26 August 2026 with a $25 million seed round led by General Catalyst, with Lux Capital, Breakout Ventures, Factory, Neo, SV Angel, MVP Ventures, Underscore VC, Lyda Hill and angel investors including David Baker, Chris Ré, Jakob Uszkoreit, Ken Frazier, Stephen Quake and Kevin Weil. The funds will expand the team, build in-house wet-lab data generation and scale deployments with diagnostic, academic, workforce and frontier-AI partners.
