About TME Pharma

Established in 1997 in Berlin, Germany, TME Pharma, formerly known as NOXXON Pharma, is a clinical-stage biotechnology company concentrated on enhancing cancer treatments by targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME). The company was listed on the Euronext Growth Paris exchange under the ticker ALNOX, which later changed to ALTME after rebranding. In July 2015, Aram Mangasarian was appointed CEO, transitioning the company into a lean, publicly traded entity. His extensive background in the biotechnology industry includes a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California-San Diego, an MBA from INSEAD, and significant business development roles at Novexel and ExonHit Therapeutics.

TME Pharma's business model is centered on the research and development of its proprietary drug candidates, with a strategy to form partnerships with pharmaceutical companies to secure financial resources and additional expertise for development and commercialization. The company does not currently generate revenue from product sales and relies on financing activities, such as private placements and convertible bonds, to fund its clinical programs. Its clients are essentially future pharmaceutical partners who will license and co-develop its drug candidates.

The core of TME Pharma's therapeutic approach is its proprietary Spiegelmer® technology. Spiegelmers are L-RNA molecules, which are mirror images of naturally occurring D-RNA, making them resistant to degradation by the body's natural enzymes. This platform has produced several clinical-stage candidates. The lead drug candidate, NOX-A12 (olaptesed pegol), targets the chemokine CXCL12, a key protein in the tumor microenvironment that helps protect cancer cells from the immune system. By neutralizing CXCL12, NOX-A12 aims to break down the tumor's protective barrier, making it more susceptible to other treatments like immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate NOX-A12 in combination with other treatments for aggressive cancers such as pancreatic and brain cancer. Another product, NOX-E36 (emapticap pegol), targets a different chemokine, CCL2, and has been explored for diabetic nephropathy.
