Video collaboration via the cloud
About Teliris
Teliris was a privately owned telepresence and videoconferencing company with headquarters in New York City and London. Founded in 1999 through a joint venture between Mycroft, a New York-based technology firm, and the UK's Global Intercasting Ltd., Teliris specialized in designing and selling video collaboration products and services. Marc Trachtenberg was a co-founder and served as the company's CEO. The company was eventually acquired.
Operating in the telepresence and videoconferencing market, Teliris provided fully managed solutions aimed at realistically replicating the dynamics of an in-person meeting. Its business model centered on the sale of these high-end systems, coupled with managed services that guaranteed high availability. The company catered primarily to Global 1000 and Fortune 500 corporations, counting firms like Lazard, GlaxoSmithKline, and Royal Bank of Scotland among its clients. By 2010, Teliris had deployments in over 50 countries. The firm's revenue was generated through the sale of its hardware products and recurring revenue from its managed services and cloud-based platform. Over its lifetime, the company raised a total of $91 million in funding from investors including Fidelity Ventures and Columbia Capital.
Teliris offered a portfolio of telepresence products built on its VirtuaLive™ technology. This included multi-screen room-based systems like the Teliris Express Telepresence, which featured HD video, pod microphones, and advanced audio processing. The company also developed the Teliris Personal Telepresence, a more affordable single-screen system for individual executives. A key feature across its products was the patented Virtual Vectoring technology, which ensured accurate eye-lines during meetings. In 2010, Teliris announced a 3D telepresence solution and a related collaboration tool, the InterACT 3D Presentation™, designed to provide true-to-life depth perception for demanding visual collaboration needs. Its offerings were built to run on the Lentaris cloud-based managed services and interoperability platform, ensuring B2B connectivity and reliability.
