TaxiForSure emerged in the Indian market as a taxi aggregator, carving out a niche for itself before the landscape became dominated by larger players. Founded in Bangalore in June 2011 by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Raghunandan G, the company aimed to organize the fragmented and often unreliable taxi market in India. The founders, both alumni of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka and IIM Ahmedabad, brought a blend of business acumen and a deep understanding of the local market's challenges. Radhakrishna had experience in the internet and software space, including a stint at Jones Lang LaSalle, while Raghunandan G had a background in management consulting with Feedback Ventures. Their shared vision was to leverage technology to create a dependable and efficient taxi booking service for consumers.

The company operated on an asset-light aggregator model, distinct from owning its own fleet of vehicles. TaxiForSure partnered with various taxi operators and individual drivers, integrating their services onto a single technology platform. This allowed customers to book a taxi through a website, a call center, or a mobile application. The business primarily served urban commuters looking for on-demand transportation, a rapidly growing segment in India's metropolitan cities. Its revenue model was commission-based, taking a percentage of the fare from its operator partners for every booking facilitated through its platform. The service focused on aggregating different types of taxis, including hatchbacks and sedans, and later introduced auto-rickshaws to its platform to broaden its appeal. A key feature was its commitment to service quality, often conducting training for drivers and ensuring vehicles met certain standards.

After a period of rapid expansion and raising significant venture capital from investors like Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Helion Venture Partners, TaxiForSure became a prominent name in the Indian ride-hailing industry. However, the market became intensely competitive, leading to the company's acquisition by its rival, Ola Cabs, in March 2015 for approximately $200 million in a cash and stock deal. Following the acquisition, TaxiForSure continued to operate as a separate brand for a time before its services were fully integrated into the Ola platform in August 2016, marking the end of its independent journey.
