About TAR

TAR (Transformative American Resources) is an Austin energy startup that designs and deploys modular, primarily renewable off-grid power systems so AI data centers can bypass multi-year grid interconnection queues. Co-founded in 2026 by Pat Becker and Leonhard Soenke, TAR combines overbuilt solar, battery storage, power electronics and balance-of-plant blocks with limited gas backup, owns engineering through O&M, and uses factory-integrated modules plus robotics-heavy construction to target campus power in under six months. A first West Texas project for a large neocloud was underway with a regional manufacturing/integration plant as of the Series A. In September 2026 TAR raised a $120 million Series A led by Spark Capital (about $100 million from Spark), with Buckley Ventures and Align Fund, at a reported $1 billion valuation to expand Austin/SF engineering, West Texas manufacturing and logistics, and accelerate deployments.
