The company was founded in 2018, with some sources indicating a 2019 founding, by Doménica Obando, Roxana Kern, and Cristian Vega. Based in Lima, Peru, the firm was established to address the global shortage of tech professionals by tapping into the Latin American talent pool.

Doménica Obando, the CEO, has a background in business administration and previously founded an NGO called Startschool to train teachers in digital skills, as well as another startup, Andi. Her experiences in the public and private sectors, including roles at Procter & Gamble and Belcorp, shaped her vision for Talently. The initial idea for Talently pivoted from Andi, an English learning platform, after realizing many users were software developers seeking international jobs. This pivot led to the creation of a platform focused on tech talent.

The company's business model centers on two main offerings. For tech professionals, it provides upskilling programs designed to enhance their technical and soft skills, including English proficiency, to compete for global roles. For companies, Talently acts as a recruitment platform, using AI to match pre-vetted candidates with job vacancies, which streamlines the hiring process. Revenue is generated through a pay-per-hire model and a premium 'PRO' subscription plan that offers dedicated support and access to a wider talent pool. The company also handles payroll and compliance for international hires.

Talently's platform serves a range of clients from startups to large corporations and IT consulting firms. It has placed professionals in major companies like Microsoft, Rappi, Nubank, and PayPal. The platform features a database of over 100,000 validated professionals and utilizes AI to filter and recommend candidates. The firm has raised approximately $5 million in funding through several seed rounds, with investors including 500 Global, Alaya Capital, and IDB Lab.
