The company's core offering was the Synergy platform, a carrier-grade Multiplay Application Feature Server. This platform enabled telecommunications service providers to deliver hosted IP communication services across fixed, mobile, and cable networks. One of its notable products was a Wireless Virtual PBX, which integrated mobile handsets into corporate PBX systems, allowing a cell phone to function as a business extension. Sylantro's business model focused on selling its software to large service providers who then offered advanced, hosted IP PBX services to small and midsize businesses. Its client roster included major names such as AT&T, China Netcom, Qwest, and Swisscom.

The company went through several funding rounds, starting with a Series A in 1998. Despite its technological offerings and substantial backing, Sylantro faced financial difficulties. In December 2008, after a decade of competition, Sylantro was acquired by BroadSoft, Inc., a leading provider of VoIP application software. The acquisition was part of BroadSoft's strategy to consolidate the market and expand its customer base, which it did by integrating Sylantro's clients and planning to support the Synergy platform.
