Super Eye Technology
A high-tech R&D enterprise dedicated to solving difficult human eye diseases
About Super Eye Technology
Beijing Super Vision Technology Co., Ltd. is a medical device company established in 2018, focusing on the development of high-end solutions for challenging ophthalmic diseases. The enterprise was co-founded by a team of distinguished academics, including Professor Wang Lejin from the Department of Ophthalmology at Peking University People's Hospital, Professor Wang Wensi of Beijing University of Technology, and Tianfang Wang, a Tsinghua University graduate who serves as the CEO. This founding structure creates a synergistic triangle of expertise, with Professor Wang Lejin guiding product strategy based on clinical needs, Professor Wang Wensi leading the technological implementation, and Tianfang Wang managing commercialization and operations.
The company's business model is centered on the research, development, and future sale of proprietary medical devices. Super Vision operates R&D centers in both Beijing and Silicon Valley, with a GMP-certified production facility located in Beijing, indicating a strategy for global development and manufacturing. The firm targets ophthalmologists and hospitals that treat complex eye conditions. Revenue will be generated through the sale of its approved medical devices to these healthcare providers. The company has successfully raised significant capital to fund its intensive R&D and clinical trial activities, securing several hundred million RMB over multiple funding rounds, including a Series B. Its investor base includes notable institutions such as Fosun Health Capital (affiliated with复健资本), Granary Capital (龙磐投资), Tsinghua Innovation Ventures (水木创投), and AIBO-Stone Medical (爱博清石).
Super Vision's flagship product is the i-NYS, a first-in-class implantable neuro-stimulator designed to treat congenital nystagmus (CN), a condition characterized by involuntary, rapid eye movements that severely impairs vision and was previously considered incurable. The development of i-NYS was inspired by Professor Wang Lejin's extensive clinical experience and insights into nerve stimulation technologies. The device works by applying functional electrical nerve stimulation (FES) to the extraocular muscles. A small, implantable chip system is placed under the skin behind the ear during a surgical procedure, which then sends micro-currents to the eye muscle nerves to counteract and inhibit the abnormal nerve impulses that cause the eye tremors. This approach is designed to be minimally destructive to the eye's natural structures. Clinical trials for the i-NYS have shown promising results, with the completion of enrollment for 71 subjects in October 2023. Data has demonstrated an 80% reduction in tremor frequency and amplitude and a four-fold increase in foveation time, significantly improving visual acuity for patients. The device entered the NMPA's innovative medical device special review process in January 2024 and the company has since submitted its formal registration application.
