In 1992, a company named Teamsphere Ltd. was founded in China, laying the groundwork for what would become a global force in the steel industry. Eight years later, in 2000, the company rebranded as Delong Steel, a name meaning "Benevolent Dragon Steel," and began its ascent. The company, led by CEO Ding Liguo, produces a range of steel products, including high-quality carbon structural steel and hot-rolled coils. A pivotal moment arrived in 2017 when Delong announced plans for a major factory in Indonesia, its first significant investment under China's Belt and Road Initiative, establishing the joint venture Dexin Steel Indonesia the following year. This move marked a clear strategy of international expansion. This global push continued with joint ventures and agreements for plants in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Zimbabwe. The company's growth was rapid, acquiring assets from the bankrupt Bohai Steel in 2019 and merging with Jiujiang Wire in 2021. This aggressive expansion and a series of strategic partnerships culminated in a major milestone: in 2022, Delong Steel was listed on the Fortune Global 500. Today, Delong is ranked as one of the world's largest steel producers, with revenues exceeding $33 billion.
