StripChain

StripChain, a protocol developed by the blockchain firm Silent Research Labs (SRL), is positioned to address the complex issue of blockchain interoperability. The protocol is spearheaded by a team that includes Isa Sertkaya, Narayana Pryusty, and a pseudonymous researcher known as "0xnovachrono". The project's conceptualization began in Q4 2023 with the development of an intent framework, leading to an internal testnet launch in May 2024. That same month, SRL announced it had raised over $10 million to build out the protocol. The funding round was led by Sora Ventures and saw participation from firms like Hyperithm, Shima Capital, Hypersphere, Mechanism, and Ascensive Assets, along with several angel investors.

StripChain operates as a full-stack, intent-based interoperability protocol designed to enable "chain abstraction." This allows developers to build applications that can operate across multiple blockchains and enables users to interact with these applications without needing to manage the complexities of the underlying networks. The business targets developers and, by extension, enterprises in sectors like finance, supply chain, and healthcare, aiming to lower the barriers for blockchain adoption. Its business model centers on the native $STRIP token, which is used for bonding by developers to run "StripSolvers" and process transactions, generating revenue for their protocols. The value of the token is designed to be derived from real revenue generated by the protocol's unified liquidity engine and other applications, rather than from blockspace value alone.

The core of StripChain's service is its architecture, which facilitates communication and data transfer at the user transaction layer. This is a departure from earlier solutions that focused on the protocol or contractual layers. Key components of the system include the StripVM, a unified execution layer that coordinates and executes user requests across different chains, and StripIntents, a communication protocol for creating cross-system commands. The ecosystem also features StripAccounts, which function as universal wallets for users, and StripDEX, a native unified liquidity layer for seamless cross-chain asset swaps. The entire protocol is supported by a Layer 3 blockchain built on the Arbitrum stack, which serves as the settlement layer.
