StrikeIron was a provider of cloud-based data quality solutions, positioning itself as a leader in the Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) market. The company was founded in 2003 by Bob Brauer, Richard Holcomb, and Robert Dale, and was headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The founders' initial vision was to create products that would assist programmers and business analysts in discovering and utilizing Web services, now commonly known as Cloud APIs.

These services were delivered via its IronCloud platform.

StrikeIron's data quality suite offered a range of verification and validation tools. Its address verification service was notable for combining certifications from six global postal organizations, allowing it to parse, correct, and format addresses according to local standards. The email verification service could check for correct formatting, detect malicious domains, and identify temporary accounts. Similarly, the phone validation service could verify numbers within the North American dialing plan. These tools were designed to be integrated directly into other applications and systems, helping businesses improve data accuracy, enhance marketing efforts, and reduce operational inefficiencies.

The company's growth was supported by over $16 million in venture funding from investors including Ascent Ventures and The Aurora Funds. In April 2010, Sean O'Leary was appointed CEO, bringing extensive sales and leadership experience that helped accelerate the company's growth. A significant milestone was achieved in 2012 when StrikeIron was named "Cloud Computing Company of the Year" at the inaugural Cloud Awards. In June 2014, StrikeIron was acquired by Informatica, a major player in the data management software industry. The acquisition was a strategic move for Informatica to enhance its Intelligent Data Platform with StrikeIron's DaaS capabilities.
