StreetFusion
Financial services to corporations and investors, enabling them the distribution of time sensitive information
About StreetFusion
StreetFusion emerged in 1995 as a pioneering force in the digital transformation of financial communications. Founded by Nicholas Galosy and Stephen Wolfe, the San Francisco-based company established itself as a primary platform for the web-based dissemination of corporate financial events.
The firm's core business centered on providing a network that connected public companies with the investment community, including buy-side and sell-side firms, as well as individual investors. Its main service involved hosting and webcasting quarterly earnings conference calls, making critical, time-sensitive financial information broadly accessible through a secure, online environment. This effectively moved the crucial process of investor relations from traditional phone lines to the internet, offering both live and on-demand access to financial events. By early 2000, StreetFusion was a dominant name in this niche, hosting a significant majority of all financial webcasts.
The company's trajectory was indicative of the dot-com era's ambition. Riding the wave of internet adoption in the financial sector, StreetFusion filed for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2000, signaling its intent to capitalize on its market position. However, amidst a shifting market landscape, the company pivoted its strategy. In July 2001, StreetFusion was acquired by Corporate Communications Broadcast Network (CCBN), a Boston-based competitor, in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $160 million. This strategic consolidation created a more formidable entity in the investor relations services market. The StreetFusion brand and its services were integrated into CCBN's offerings, which were subsequently acquired by Thomson Financial in 2004, marking the final chapter of StreetFusion as an independent entity.
