About StillSecure
StillSecure was a cybersecurity firm established in 2000 by founder Rajat Bhargava and headquartered in Superior, Colorado. The company initially focused on providing both commercial and open-source secure network infrastructure solutions. Over its history, StillSecure raised a total of $21.4 million in funding over two rounds, including a significant Series A round in June 2001.
The business catered to a diverse client base, from midsize organizations to large enterprises, with a notable presence in the government, financial services, education, and healthcare sectors. Its business model centered on delivering managed network security and certified compliance solutions, allowing IT executives to focus on their core business operations rather than security and compliance demands. StillSecure's product lineup included network access control (NAC), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and vulnerability management. One of its key offerings was the 'Safe Access' NAC software, an open-source solution designed to detect and test endpoints like mobile devices and PCs against security policies, controlling their access to the network.
In a significant strategic shift, StillSecure's Managed Security Services (MSS) division was acquired by SilverSky, a cloud security solutions provider, in June 2013. This acquisition was part of SilverSky's strategy to expand its portfolio and expertise, incorporating StillSecure's technology, security analysts, and engineers. The deal allowed SilverSky to enhance its offerings with services like Log Archiving and a Web Application Firewall. Following the divestiture of its MSS business, StillSecure pivoted to focus on its network access control product line. Subsequently, the entire SilverSky entity, including the former StillSecure assets, was acquired by BAE Systems in a deal valued at $232.5 million, which was completed in December 2014. This series of acquisitions marked the end of StillSecure as an independent entity, and it is now considered a deadpooled company.
