StemRIM Inc. is a biopharmaceutical firm that emerged from Osaka University, concentrating on the development of what it terms "Regeneration-Inducing Medicine™". Instead of extracting, culturing, and re-injecting cells, this approach uses intravenously administered compounds, which are peptides or proteins, to stimulate the patient's own bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. These activated stem cells then travel through the bloodstream to the site of injury or disease and differentiate into various cell types to promote tissue repair. The leading pipeline candidate, Redasemtide, is a synthetic peptide derived from the HMGB1 protein, engineered to trigger stem cell mobilization without inducing inflammation. This platform technology is being investigated for a wide array of difficult-to-treat conditions, including epidermolysis bullosa, acute ischemic stroke, cardiomyopathy, chronic liver disease, and knee osteoarthritis. Having gone public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in August 2019, the company directs its capital towards furthering its research and development pipelines.
