Stack Health Inc. is a venture-backed startup aiming to shift the health insurance paradigm from employer-owned to individual-owned coverage. The company was recently founded in late 2025 by serial entrepreneur Alex Frommeyer, who previously founded the insurtech firm Beam Benefits in 2012. After stepping down as CEO of Beam Benefits, Frommeyer started Stack Health to address what he views as a "max pain moment" in health insurance, particularly for small businesses and individuals who feel trapped by their healthcare plans.

Stack Health's model allows employers to contribute a set allowance, which employees then use on the Stack platform to build a personalized healthcare 'stack'. This stack consists of a base layer of catastrophic insurance for major, unforeseen medical events, supplemented by a variety of other health and wellness products and services that the individual can choose. These can include gym memberships, wearables like Eight Sleep, chiropractic care, or vitamins. This approach is designed to transition employers from being decision-makers to financial contributors, giving employees control, flexibility, and portability in their healthcare choices.

The company targets individuals, freelancers, and solopreneurs, often accessing them through small employers who want to offer health benefits without the complexity of managing a traditional group plan. By 'productizing' the experience of building a custom health plan, Stack Health aims to empower individuals to own their health coverage, promote a more consumer-driven healthcare system, and ultimately help deflate rising healthcare costs.
