Founded in 2003 by Piero Zucchelli, SpinX Technologies was a Swiss-based company that specialized in microfluidic technologies for conducting bioassays. The firm developed a platform to automate and miniaturize biological experiments, targeting applications from drug discovery to consumer diagnostics. This technology aimed to reduce manual labor and the high costs associated with complex robotics by significantly decreasing the consumption of samples and reagents, which in turn increased throughput and generated cost savings.

The company's core products included the SpinX Lab, a microfluidics system designed to transition low-volume microplate assays to an automated bench-top technology for tests in nanoliter volumes. This system provided a fully integrated solution where protocols were coded in software, offering flexibility for various assays and reagents. The primary markets for SpinX Technologies were in the life sciences, including drug discovery, clinical diagnostics, and lab automation.

SpinX Technologies secured a total of $14.5 million in funding over two rounds. The first round occurred on September 6, 2005, raising $12.5 million, followed by a second Series B round in January 2009 for $2 million. Its investors included notable firms such as Bio Fund Management, Index Ventures, and Auriga Partners. Despite its developments, the company is now considered deadpooled. The founder, Piero Zucchelli, later went on to establish another company, Andrew Alliance.
