About Spark e-Fuels

Spark e-Fuels is a Berlin climate-tech company founded in 2021 by Dr Mathias Bösl, Julia Bauer and Arno Zimmermann that develops demand-responsive e-fuel synthesis for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and broader chemical decarbonisation. Its patented process is designed to handle intermittent wind and solar inputs without costly continuous hydrogen storage, aiming for scalable, cost-competitive SAF versus fossil kerosene. In February 2025 Spark raised a €2.3 million pre-Seed led by Nucleus Capital with Zero Carbon Capital, IBB Ventures, Chemovator, Voyagers.io, 1.5° Ventures and energy/aviation angels, to build a first pilot plant and expand the team; separate grants totaling roughly €300k are distinct from the equity pre-Seed.
