SoftwareONE
Portfolio management software for businesses
About SoftwareONE
Every great company story starts with solving a problem. For Patrick Winter and his co-founder René Gilli, that problem was the growing complexity of software licensing in the late 1980s. In 1985, they started with a simple idea in Stans, Switzerland: help companies manage their software assets, a niche that would become massive. They were essentially software resellers, but with a focus on advising clients on the best way to purchase and manage licenses. For years, SoftwareONE grew steadily, operating under the radar. The business was built on deep technical knowledge and strong customer relationships. They understood that as businesses became more reliant on software from various vendors like Microsoft, Adobe, and Oracle, they needed a partner to navigate the complicated world of licensing agreements and ensure compliance. They weren't just selling software; they were selling expertise and peace of mind. This focus allowed them to expand globally, opening offices across the world. A significant turning point came in the late 2010s. The company, having built a global powerhouse in software and cloud solutions, decided the time was right to go public. In October 2019, SoftwareONE Holding AG successfully launched its Initial Public Offering on the SIX Swiss Exchange. This event wasn't the culmination of their journey, but rather a new chapter, providing the capital to further invest in their cloud and technology services. From a small Swiss advisory firm, SoftwareONE had become a publicly traded, global leader, proving that even in the unglamorous corners of the tech world, immense value can be built.
