The company's history began with the initial goal of creating a 'TripAdvisor for professional training' by curating quality training organizations and enabling direct booking. This concept evolved into a comprehensive talent management system. A significant milestone was the commercial launch of its solution in 2018, which has since been adopted by more than 150,000 active users in prominent companies such as Clarins, Intersport, and BPI France. Skillup has successfully raised a total of $11.6 million over three funding rounds, with a notable Series A funding of €8 million ($8.72M) in April 2022. This round was led by Hi Inov, Omnes Capital, and SWEN Capital Partners, joined by historical investors including Kerala Ventures and Global Founders Capital.

The platform's core offerings are structured around three main pillars: training management, performance reviews, and skills management. The training module provides a customizable portal where employees can access a catalog of 60,000 courses from 200 organizations, manage training requests, and track development plans. The performance review module digitizes annual and professional reviews, allowing for goal tracking and performance measurement. Finally, the skills management tool includes a job competency framework to map company-wide skills, aiding in strategic workforce planning. The system is designed to integrate with existing HR tools like HRIS, payroll, and ATS to create a cohesive talent management ecosystem. The platform emphasizes user experience, aiming to save HR teams significant time on administrative tasks and provide accessible, customizable data dashboards for better decision-making.
