SiranBio
Dual-targeting and extrahepatic delivery siRNA drug development.
About SiranBio
Suzhou Siran Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (SiranBio) is a biopharmaceutical company established in May 2022, specializing in the research and development of innovative small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics. Based in the Suzhou Industrial Park in China, the company was founded by Dr. Zhiwei Yang, who serves as the Chairman and CEO. The founding team includes scientists with extensive experience in nucleic acid drug development from institutions like Peking University, Harvard University, and Merck. SiranBio focuses on creating therapies for a range of diseases, including viral infections, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases, and central nervous system conditions. The company has developed a proprietary technology system that covers the entire siRNA drug development process. This includes the eSAFE chemical modification technology, the STORK-W single-molecule dual-target platform, and the STORK platform for targeted delivery to both liver (intra-hepatic) and other tissues (extra-hepatic) such as fat, muscle, and kidneys. This integrated approach has led to a differentiated R&D model characterized by "dual-target innovation + extra-hepatic delivery." The company's business model involves in-house development and out-licensing of its drug candidates to larger pharmaceutical companies. A major milestone was the worldwide exclusive licensing agreement with GSK for SA030, a long-acting siRNA candidate targeting ALK7 for metabolic and vascular diseases. The deal, valued at up to $1.005 billion plus royalties, grants GSK rights outside of greater China, while SiranBio continues to lead development through Phase 1 trials. SA030 is designed to reduce visceral adipose tissue while preserving lean mass, thereby improving insulin sensitivity and lipid profiles. Another key candidate, SA1211, is the first dual-target siRNA drug globally to enter clinical trials and aims to provide a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B. SiranBio has secured significant funding to advance its pipeline. The company has raised nearly RMB 1 billion through a combination of equity financing and payments from licensing agreements. In August 2026, it announced the completion of a Series A financing round totaling nearly RMB 400 million. These funds are allocated to advance the clinical development of its core candidates and expand its pipeline toward more challenging extrahepatic tissues.
