Siano Mobile Silicon, founded in 2004 by Alon Ironi and Hamutal Raab, operated as a fabless semiconductor company from its base in Netanya, Israel. The firm specialized in the design and provision of silicon receiver chips for the mobile digital television (MDTV) market. Its business model centered on supplying these high-performance, integrated circuits to manufacturers of cellular handsets, consumer electronics, and automotive solutions. Siano's client roster included prominent tier-1 manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, Dell, and Garmin.

The company's core offering consisted of multi-standard, single-die receiver chips that enabled the reception of various global mobile TV broadcast standards, including DVB-T, DVB-H, ISDB-T, T-DMB, DAB, CMMB, and ATSC-M/H. This multi-protocol capability provided flexibility for device makers targeting different international markets. Beyond the core silicon, Siano developed wireless accessory products, like the 'Carmel' and 'Meron', which were designed to connect to smartphones and tablets (both Apple and Android) to stream live broadcast television directly to the devices. A key value proposition was the low power consumption and small footprint of its chips, achieved through zero-IF technology and partnerships with firms like Synopsys for processor cores.

Throughout its operation, Siano secured significant investment to fuel its product development and geographic expansion, particularly into North America, China, and Latin America. The company raised a total of $95.5 million over six funding rounds from investors including Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), Star Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DFJ. Its first funding round was in April 2005, and the last was a venture debt round in May 2012. The company established a notable market presence, capturing a significant share in the Chinese and Latin American mobile TV chipset markets. Siano also entered into strategic licensing agreements, such as a deal with Qualcomm to develop chips compliant with the MediaFLO standard. The company went into receivership in 2015 and ceased operations.
