About Sensitech

In 1990, New England entrepreneur Sandy Santin founded Sensitech, a company born from the idea that monitoring the temperature of shipments was an industry ready for change. Before Sensitech, the industry standard for tracking the cold chain—a supply chain for temperature-sensitive products like food and pharmaceuticals—relied on mechanical strip charts. Santin saw an opportunity to use emerging sensor and data technology to bring a new level of visibility and control to this critical process. Two years after its founding, the company launched its first electronic temperature monitor, the TempTale1. This device was the first in a line of sensor-based monitors that would give customers digital data that could be stored, sorted, and analyzed. This shift from hardware to software and analytics was a pivotal moment, allowing clients to not just track, but also understand and improve their supply chains. The company grew quickly, acquiring competitors like Ryan Instruments in 2000 and Cox Technologies in 2004 to expand its global reach. A significant chapter in Sensitech's journey came in 2006 when it was acquired by Carrier Corporation, a global leader in refrigeration solutions. The acquisition provided Sensitech with the resources to expand its global operations and enhance its technological capabilities. Under Carrier, Sensitech continued to innovate, moving into real-time monitoring and advanced analytics, solidifying its position as a key player in ensuring the safety and integrity of products moving across the globe.
