Seadronix
Aims to develop an AI-based navigation and port operation system for a safer and a smarter maritime industry
About Seadronix
Seadronix is a South Korean-based technology firm, established in 2015 by Byeolteo Park, Hanguen Kim, Donghoon Kim, and Jae Uk Shin, that develops artificial intelligence-driven solutions for the maritime industry. The company is headquartered in Ulsan, a major industrial city in South Korea, with a dedicated research and development center located in Seoul. Seadronix targets global shipbuilders, vessel operators, and smart port authorities, aiming to enhance safety and operational efficiency in maritime logistics. Its business model combines the manufacturing of sensor modules with a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach for its solutions.
The company's core offering revolves around AI-based situational awareness technology. This is manifested in a suite of products designed for both vessels and port facilities. For ships, the primary system is NAVISS (Navigation Assistance and monitoring System), which provides a 360-degree view around the vessel to eliminate blind spots and delivers real-time collision alerts. Complementing this is Rec-SEA, a software solution that upgrades existing onboard sensors and cameras, such as LiDAR and RADAR, with AI capabilities. This system can create 3D maritime maps, optimize navigation routes, and detect and track objects and people around the ship. For port-side operations, Seadronix offers AVISS (AI-based Port Management and Monitoring System), which is installed at the berth to monitor vessel docking. It provides data on berthing speed and distance, tracks vessel routes, and offers port statistics, as well as worker and fire alerts.
Seadronix was founded to address the high costs associated with existing unmanned ship solutions by replacing expensive sensors with a more affordable vision-based deep learning system. The company has achieved several key milestones, including securing certifications from the South Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and receiving the CES 2024 Innovation Award. It is also a key participant in South Korea's national Autonomous Ship Technology Development Project. The firm has successfully raised significant capital to fuel its growth, including a Series A round of $5.8 million in 2022 and a Series B round of $11.3 million in March 2025. These funds are earmarked for enhancing its AI and robotics technology and expanding its global market presence, building on existing contracts in Singapore and the Netherlands.
