Founded in 2009, Scanmetals specializes in the recovery of non-ferrous metals from incinerator bottom ash (IBA) generated by Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities. Operating in Scandinavia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, Scanmetals employs a unique dry process to extract valuable metals from residual household and municipal waste, which would otherwise end up in landfills. The recovered metals are cleaned, separated into different fractions, and sold to primary and secondary smelters, refineries, ingot makers, and foundries globally. This business model not only generates revenue through the sale of recovered metals but also contributes significantly to the circular economy by reducing carbon emissions and promoting the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle waste hierarchy.
