Savcor
Provides effective and long lasting corrosion prevention for steel and concrete structures and process vessels
About Savcor
In 1981, in the small Finnish town of Mikkeli, two young metallurgical engineers, Hannu Savisalo and Martti Pulliainen, founded Savcor. Their initial focus was on a significant environmental issue of the time: developing electronic corrosion protection for steel in wastewater treatment plants to prevent leaks and extend the life of the facilities. This early work in managing corrosion with electricity set the stage for the company's future. The company expanded its expertise in the 1990s, applying its anti-corrosion technology to larger infrastructure like concrete and steel structures. A key move during this period was the 1995 acquisition of an Australian customer, Remedial Engineering, which was then renamed Savcor ART Pty Ltd. This acquisition marked a significant step into the Australian market and broadened Savcor's focus to include industrial rehabilitation services. Further expansion came in the 2000s with a series of acquisitions in Australia, solidifying its position in the region. A major milestone was reached in 2007 when the Savcor Group Limited, the parent company, was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). However, the journey wasn't without its challenges. After a failed sale of the Australian ART business, the Savcor Group Limited entered into administration in 2014, ending its 20-year chapter in Australia under that structure. The Australian business, Savcor ART, continued to operate independently under a new ownership arrangement.
