RouteSense is a data analytics company specifically developed for the payments industry, which recently launched with approximately $2 million in pre-seed funding led by Redbud VC. The company was founded by Stephen Martin (CEO), Colin Martin (COO), and Robert Matthews (CTO), who collectively bring over 75 years of experience in acquiring, PayFac infrastructure, and dispute technology. The founding team has deep roots in the payments sector, including family involvement in the establishment of the Electronic Transactions Association. CTO Robert Matthews previously headed engineering at Midigator, a chargeback management platform that was later acquired by Equifax.

RouteSense provides predictive analytics and real-time intelligence to merchants, acquirers, and processors, transforming fragmented payment data into actionable insights. The company's first product, Pathfinder, delivers real-time analytics on Merchant Identification Number (MID) health and facilitates intelligent transaction distribution for merchants that operate multiple MIDs. This platform continuously monitors MID performance by analyzing approval trends and network-defined health indicators. It then routes transactions to merchant accounts that have available capacity under the current conditions, aiming to mitigate risks such as non-compliance, fines, and account closures that can result from delayed reporting. The business model targets merchants, acquirers, payment service providers, and processors. The launch of RouteSense is timely, as it addresses the increased demand for real-time MID analytics driven by initiatives like Visa's Acquiring Monitoring Program (VAMP), which has heightened oversight in the industry.
