Robovision
No-code AI computer vision platform for industries
About Robovision
Robovision provides an AI-powered, no-code computer vision platform that enables machines to see and automate processes across various industries. The company was founded in 2012 in Ghent, Belgium, by Jonathan Berte and Tim Waegeman. Berte started the company as a consultancy focused on vision and robots in 2009, and was joined by Waegeman as CTO in 2014, who was completing his PhD in machine learning.
The core of Robovision's offering is its end-to-end platform that allows users without a background in data science to develop, deploy, and manage AI models for visual automation. This platform is designed to integrate with existing machinery and production lines, managing the entire AI lifecycle from data import and annotation to model training, testing, and deployment. It features a user-friendly graphical interface and provides tools like AI-assisted labeling to streamline the creation of custom AI solutions. The system is scalable, capable of supporting deployments from a single machine to global operations.
Robovision serves a diverse client base in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail. In agriculture, its technology is used for tasks like the automated sorting and planting of tulip bulbs, with a partnership with ISO Group helping to plant half of the world's tulip production annually. Other applications include weed detection, crop monitoring, and automated harvesting. In manufacturing, the platform assists partners like Hitachi with the production of semiconductor wafers and enhances quality control systems. For retail, it has been integrated into supermarket scales to automatically identify products. The platform is also used in healthcare for applications like computed tomography diagnostics and medical imaging analysis in partnership with institutions like Stanford University.
As of March 2024, Robovision has raised a total of $65 million in funding over four rounds. A significant Series A round in March 2024 brought in $42 million, led by Target Global and Astanor Ventures, with participation from Red River West. This funding is intended to fuel the company's expansion in the United States and support further research and development. The company has deployed over 1,000 machines in more than 45 countries and has generated over $250 million in sales for its partners. Headquartered in Ghent, the company employs over 130 people and has plans to open new offices in Germany, France, the UK, the Middle East, and Asia.
